Japanese animation usually leaves me cold; films that everyone else raves about leave me feeling guilty because I didn't enjoy them. Until Paprika; this was, at last, an animated Japanese film that had me gripped. I didn't entirely understand what was going on, but the charm of the story meant that that didn't matter. It has parallels with Inception in its exploration and use of dreams but looks very different. I wonder how much (if at all?) it influenced the making of Inception?
P.S. Look at the post in SilentJoe's comment below - the two films are even more similar than I remembered!
