Just a film lover
Top 4 are the best 4 films that I’ve seen previous month.
Film #12/31 for August Scavenger Hunt #53!
Much better film when watched for the second time. I could appreciate this film much more as a whole. When I watched this film for the first time, I loved the first 45 minutes of it, but I hated the rest. Now, I can see why is film structured like that. After a rewatch, it is clear how well structured this film is. It has a typical 3 act structure, but you have…
Film #6/30 for April Scavenger Hunt #49!
This will be more an analysis than a typical review because I'll be talking a lot about the characters, their behavior, their reactions and motivations, and mainly relationship between two main characters so there will be spoilers. Be aware.
Watched the director's cut.
Firstly, this had to be mentioned, this is not a biographical film that represents 100% true events. This is a mostly fictionalized version of events with the same people in…
I’ll try to stay as vague as possible in this review even though a lot of things are going to make way more sense after you watch it one or two times. After the rewatch I started to appreciate the film a bit more since I got something out of it this time. Also going in, I knew which perspective should I focus on since the film is played in a different way than you would think the first time…
Even though I need to rewatch it (and I will as soon as I get the chance), I feel like this film is one of the weaker entries in Kaufman’s career. Thematically, it is probably the closest to Synecdoche, New York but it lacks the complexity and the ambitiousness of it. After watching the film for the second time I will go into what works and what doesn’t. The only thing I can say now after watching it once, is that (even though some elements in the film are over exaggerated and its a bit too long) this is not a bad film.
I barely can remember what was happening in this film, it's very forgettable.
It seemed like this film didn't know what it wanted to be. If it was trying to be comedy, it failed. If it was trying to be thrilling, it failed.
Tone of this film was all over the place. In the one hand, you have "tense" moment with serious music in the background, and then, from nothing, David Harbour had to shout some badly timed comedic lines.…
Film #11/30 for April Scavenger Hunt #49!
This film looks astonishing. From the mesmerizing cinematography to the beautiful natural lightning. Kubrick didn’t want to use studio lights, so he used natural lightning for the whole film. For example, in the scenes where is night time he used only candles as a source of the light. In order to do so, he used Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/0.7 lenses. There where only 10 of those in the world, Kubrick had 3…
