we need more spaghetti in film
This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.
I feel like this film is easy to write off because of its subject matter, and critics probably had an even easier to write off because it was directed and written by a woman (Rebecca Miller.) I'll admit, I felt deeply uncomfortable from the first scenes of the film. But I quickly settled in as Miller dove deeper - deeper into the psyche of Jack, and his dangerous manipulation of Rose.
Once you get past the often agonizing, sexually charged…
This was such a sorry attempt at monetizing "feminism". No, this film didn't flop because it was a female led action film, it flopped because it was devoid of substance, quality comedic moments, or good cinematography. It actually feels quite disrespectful that as the target audience for this film, the producers decided that I would react best to this vapid attempt at a girls' night out feature. The part when Elizabeth Banks told the Angels that RBG is an angel was hilarious though. It pandered to the extreme.
