Solo: A Star Wars Story ★★★

The film version of the card Emma Stone gets from her grandma in Easy A. An annoying piece of pop art that grows on you over time; something to be enjoyed for the duration of its runtime but ultimately disposable. Nothing new, nothing offensive. Mild like cooled toast.

Bradford Young is the real star here because his work survives the unbalanced tonal shifts, paper thin characters and cringey origin story elements.

I appreciate two things. Woody Harrelson's insane hair and the scale of the monster sequence (watching that thing disintegrate was pretty cool). Make that three things, can't forget Lando's capes.

The rest is what it is.
