I realised, about 15 mins in, that I hadn't actually seen this before. I'd merely seen bits and hadn't revisited because of my general disdain for musicals.

I'm glad I did revisit though. Singin in the Rain goes right into my top 5 all time musicals with ease. There are still a few tunes I don't care for but every time Donald O'Connor appears magic happens. His "Make em laugh" number had me giggling like an idiot.

Great chemistry everywhere, some terrific dance sequences and a sensational opening storytelling monologue from Gene Kelly that set the tone so beautifully. If I'm sold on a musical then you know it's an all-timer.
