It has the academy ratio aspect which is also used at "Mommy" (2014), but in this case Xavier Dolan plays a couple times with the ratio with an awesome meaning within the film. In "American Honey" i think it was applied for.. the sake of art? I don't know, it just looks beautiful as fuck.
