Suspiria ★★★★½

now this is a remake that adds and improves on what the original offered!!! while some of the original's plot elements are still there, luca drastically changed the entire plot and created an even layered story. the luscious setting of the original is now drab and cold in the remake, depicting the murky era of berlin. argento's suspiria is livelier and funkier and guadagnino's is just the opposite of that, in a positive way. its grotesque is graphic and unafraid to terrify the audience. characters are even more fleshed out. the last act of the original and the remake are remarkably different and both of them worked in their own way.
