    - I naively expected this movie to follow a fairly straightforward tradition along the lines of Ozu-Kore-eda. But boy does it crescendo like no other and even flirts with slight surrealism.

    - There are some absolutely breathtaking lighting choices. In particular when the beach at night traverses the screen with strong slivers of distant waves, and when Megumi takes a deep inhale the morning as the sunrise lights up her face with an unapologetically bright glow.
