The central romance is as cold and bland as the beach on which Ronan’s character catches a fever. It’s a shame but just goes to show that pairing two incredible actresses (who are both just fine here but will no doubt get awards nominations left right and centre) doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll have the chemistry to sell the film, no matter how badly you want them to. Minus a trillion points for a dong shot in a lesbian romance film, those have no place here.
