Greta Gerwig has done something really special here; she has managed to take a period literature classic and, without altering almost any of its DNA, has given is a modern spin that works splendidly. A chat with those I saw it with post-screening actually made me appreciate these changes even more. With the exception of Emma Watson, who is passable I guess, the cast is phenomenal (this is hands down Florence Pugh's best work of the year), and Alexandre Desplat needs awards recognition for that score. I also went through a torrent of emotions through this; if I wasn't smiling from ear to ear, I was crying my eyes out. What an utterly delightful, wholesome film.
