To Live and Die in L.A.

To Live and Die in L.A. ★★★★½

Friedkin, Müller, Wang Chung, Petersen, Dafoe: some of the coolest filmmaking you’ll ever witness. Truly in every sense of the word, the coolest. No one captures motion quite as kinetically and linearly as Friedkin.

Those chase sequences are spectacular, but the driving sequences in particular just left me in awe; they’re directed with absolute command of the way in which motion is captured on the screen and on film. Petersen should’ve been one of our big actors, he’s a stunner in this and Man(n)hunter. Top, top work.
