definitely giving garland too much credit here but judging from the end product it seems like he’s adapting an early idea for a short film. i mean that’s the only conclusion i can come to as this is thuddingly obvious and so hollow it barely warrants its runtime. don’t even have the energy to fully hate this but people’s pre-release assumptions of A24 cannibalizing their “elevated” style of horror to the point of parody are extremely valid. buckley is a very talented performer and it looks/sounds nice but this is derivative of virtually every experimental-leaning anything.
