2019 Shorts Ranked - ClickĀ HERE
The last Jurassic movie provided an interesting first act but nothing beyond that; other than the tease before the credits. To see a world ruled by dinosaurs is something that would draw in a huge crowd; even those who havenāt loved this new age of Jurassic films. Iām not one to rave about where this franchise is but after seeing what I wanted to see in this short; I am on board for where it is going. Trevorrow isnāt the best writer and itās clear to me that itās going to be difficult to get around that in the new film; but in terms of his directing, his style and the potential tone, Iām excited.Ā Iām excited because this short has the mostĀ amount of tension I have felt since the first Jurassic Park movie.
Just showcasing a day in the life of a family one year after the events of the second film makes me pumped for the trilogy capper. Why? Because this family encounters a freaking dinosaur. Why make this if it wasnāt going to point us in the direction of the franchiseās future? Certain lines were cheesy, the exposition wasnāt the best and the end was lackluster; but the perfect tone, darkness and intense scenes were enough to fire me up. The idea of this short made me giggle at first but after seeing what it showcased, with great actors delivering on the material, I am at least moderately excited for this third movie. Hopefully it can get the franchise back on track.
