Frances Ha

Frances Ha ★★★★★

I wish I could bottle the way this film made me feel after leaving the theatre. I'll expand on this review later, but I just wanted to let as many people know as possible while the film is still playing in theaters. Judging by the number of people in the auditorium with me, that might not be too long.

The meaning behind the title of this film is absolutely brilliant; it's one of the best titled films ever. Frances Ha is like a cross between Woody Allen and Whit Stillman, but it's better than anything Stillman has ever done, and you'd have to go all the way back to Manhattan to find a better Woody Allen film. It's quirky and funny and beautiful, and something truly worth treasuring. It's also both spot-on real and very inspiring at the same time, in its approach to the self-realization that informs ones desire to live their dreams.

An early contender for best film of the year, Frances Ha will without a doubt be on my top ten.
