Spielberg. Nolan. Shyamalan. Peele.

Jordan Peele follows up his polarizing Us with this full-tilt surrender to the aesthetic hallmarks of his influences, Steven Spielberg and M. Night Shyamalan, in a near-formal masterpiece of science-fiction cinema that cements his stature as one of the modern art form's great visual storytellers. And yes, I saw this in IMAX, not on Peacock. Jordan Peele is one of the only voices remaining in Hollywood, with not only the clout to see his vision through to conclusion, but the balls to give unsuspecting, unassuming mainstreaming audiences (like my eighty year old parents) pure, undiluted, uncompromising cinema.
