There’s never a dull moment in A Nightmare On Elm Street, my favorite horror movie. It’s a perfect film, and Nancy is the best Final Girl ever if you ask me. I always think of her as the All American Girl Next Door, but then I watch the movie and remember that she actually has a little attitude. I consider her the Patron Saint of Final Girls, though most people would probably go with the OG: Jamie Lee Curtis.
Elm Street is such an iconic classic that I don’t need to say much about it. When I was a kid in the eighties, I was afraid of Freddy before I even saw any of the movies. I thought he was under my bed! That’s how big Freddy fever got. He was everywhere in pop culture, everyone knew who he is and what he did. He was in commercials, endorsing potato chips!
But what I wanted to mention is the ending. I guess I never thought about it that much, but... there’s no ending. The dream never ends. We have no idea what happens to Nancy! That’s kind of crazy if you think about it. I’m surprised it’s not talked about and speculated about more. That’s more of a realization than a review, but none of my reviews are reviews anyway.
What do you think happened in the end?
