While it never really achieves the levels of extended ridicule I was hoping for, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping is still highly successful as a satirical portrait of the modern celebrity, and the often terrible media, publicity, and fanbases that surround them. Not to say that this isn't ridiculously funny - because it is and that's good - I just wish it had sat on some jokes for a little bit longer. It lacks the longevity and recurrence of humour of something like This is Spinal Tap or even Hot Rod.
Andy Samberg is still one of the most creative comedic minds in Hollywood today though. And he's at his best here with his Lonely Island gang working along side him. I laughed through and through, and the songs are definitely the best parts.
