Sorry but Carey Mulligan’s performance and Stars are Blind can’t save this movie from what an evil message it serves. I’m sad for the parts of the movie I liked because they were pretty cruelly crushed into dust. Maybe spoilers below I guess.
I was skeptical from the intro but hopeful that a woman could work through trauma with positive relationships and add something new to the very tired rape revenge genre. But no, with this movie’s dying breath, it says women are fools for ever being attracted to men or working to trust them. Women deserve more than to be dead bodies to teach men lessons. Also, ACAB! Deranged ending. Police don’t care about SA. I hate this so much. I’m so upset I watched this.
I really was fooled into thinking this movie was going to be good from the high rating on letterboxd but now scrolling through, lots of high ratings by men and lots of low ratings by women. I wonder why!!!
