Bro, white people are crazyyy.
I liked Midsommar much more than Hereditary, and yes I will die on this hill (not by jumping off a cliff but you get the idea).
Florence Pugh is such a talented actress, and her sad pouty face gets me every time. Her work in this film truly elevated the material and carried the weight of guilt, shame, and grief in its purest form.
This is not a movie for the casual viewer and is definitely one to “brace yourself” for. A bit of research before watching and knowing what you’re getting into may be helpful.
The dizzying cinematography and bright color pallet took getting used to, but I understand were obviously intentional, and they did very well in complementing the story and even telling a story of their own.
I can neither confirm or deny use of the fungus’ present in this, but will say the visuals and mental shifts pictured indicate director Ari Aster is no stranger to them due to the accuracy.
This isn’t a classic horror film, just as Hereditary wasn’t, but it is pretty damn terrifying. Absolutely will watch this again and I cant wait to read other peoples theories/interpretations. I’m a year late to the party, but oh well. I’m my own May Queen 🌸🌺🌼🌞
