absolutely no words to describe this. one of the most powerful, shocking and just plain mesmerizing experiences i’ve ever had it’s like being on a roller coaster while drunk and simultaneously getting waterboarded. the film feels like it was made decades ago, like someone kept it under wraps for years and just decided to release it. so much inspiration from old “horror” icons is here especially bergman and his leaning into existentialism and dread but eggers takes it twenty steps further and creates a monster (or two) of his own.
there’s so much more i want to say but for the first time ever i feel content in just keeping it all in my head, letting myself bask in this films glory all on my own. eggers i didn’t know you had it in you but you knocked it out of the park, sublime stuff.
