    The Unforgivable

    ★★

    LOL

    Unforgivably dumb.

  • West Side Story

    West Side Story

    ★★★★½

    100th 2021 release logged and… WHAT A PICTURE!

An Oscar for Ariana Debose, please.

  • Diary of a Wimpy Kid

    Diary of a Wimpy Kid

    ★★

What’s something that isn’t a straight to video repackaging of episodes from an abandoned TV series but feels like a straight to video repackaging of episodes from an abandoned TV series?

  • House of Gucci

    House of Gucci

    ★★★½

House of Gucci feels like a group project that everyone worked on individually and without communication before coming together 15 minutes prior to the group presentation… and I kind of loved the chaos that came from that.

  • Single All the Way

    Single All the Way

    ★★★½

Michael Urie quotes Madeline Kahn’s “Flames” monologue from Clue so of course I thought this was great!

    Peter— The Original Demon Twink

  • Spencer

    Spencer

    ★★★

    “Great gowns. Beautiful gowns.”

Narratively pretty inert but Kristen Stewart carries the day with her beautifully internalized performance. Bonus points for Greenwood’s score, Mathon’s camerawork, and the sublime use of Mike + The Mechanics’ “All I Need is a Miracle”

That said, I had wayyy more fun with Diana: The Musical

  • Belfast

    Dear Academy,
Please nominate Jamie Dornan for Best Supporting Actor… for his work in Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar.

To quote Spike Lee- “Not my cup of tea”

I KNOW this movie didn’t have me crying over a damn tree fort.

  • You've Got Mail

    You've Got Mail

    ★★★★½

You’ve Got Mail is a Thanksgiving movie.

  • Encanto

    Encanto

    ★★½

Convinced that a bot listened to all of Lin Manuel Miranda’s music and composed this score. Everything about this movie is so depressingly on autopilot. Sure, Encanto dazzles the eye but where is the HEART?!

  • King Richard

    King Richard

    ★★★½

Smith is good but the women he’s surrounded by absolutely own this movie.
