• The Thief of Bagdad

    The Thief of Bagdad

This movie is bananas. Campy technicolor bliss. John Justin’s stache is hipster goals.

  • Black Panther

    Black Panther

I didn’t quite lose my mind for this in the same way everyone else seems to have but I can’t deny what an important cultural event Black Panther is. The women are fierce and steal the movie with Killmonger being a close second. The title character might be the least interesting and I can’t help feeling Coogler knows that in the way he makes this more of an ensemble affair. Rachel Morrison’s Cinematography is often stunning. Aside from a car…

  • Peter Rabbit

    Peter Rabbit

I fully expected to hate this but my 4 year old nephew wanted to see it. I ended up laughing even more than he did and MIGHT have misted up. Peter Rabbit is BASICALLY Notting Hill meets an ADHD Paddington with a soundtrack that feels like “I, Tonya Jr.” In short I was totally delighted.

BONUS POINTS- Hux and Bunny Rey!!!

  • E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

    E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

Just watched E.T. with my four year old nephew.
    His first time.
He was enraptured from the first shot to the last.
    Applauded at the end.
Suffice it to say I’m pretty much a complete mess.
    Spielberg is the master.
    E.T. is his Mona Lisa.

  • I, Tonya

    I, Tonya

Still a lot to love, namely Robbie’s performance, (though I have to say, Stan’s performance is underrated in a crowded year) the editing and the cinematography but this one doesn’t have quite the same impact on the second watch. In fact, Janney’s performance while enjoyable at first did almost nothing for me this time. This is a great movie to enjoy, not one to study.

  • Manhunter

    The superior Hannibal Lec(k)tor film.

  • The Stepford Wives

    The Stepford Wives

Not good but watchable in a snow day kind of way.

  • The Florida Project

    The Florida Project

Second time this week. Brooklynn Prince is just unreal. If the first 1:40 wasn’t enough of an accomplishment, the work she does in the final 10 minutes pushes her performance into the stratosphere.

Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation

Introduced my nephew to this childhood staple tonight. IT. HOLDS. UP.

    The plot hole🤣

Thank you, Sean Baker. This film is a gift.

    Miss Stevens

This little film is really something. Rabe and Chalamet are heavenly. This one deserves a much bigger audience.
