    Don't Look Up

    ★★½

It’s just a movie. Nothing special about it. But McKay fans love to make them something they aren’t. The actors succeed in their meekish dominance, in a cynical plot that makes fun of everything so much an average viewer (myself included here) doesn’t know what the punchline is supposed to be.

Towards the end it really gets to be too much. It further divides where we should be as a country. But I’ve gotta say the Ari track is really what happened when she tweeted for everyone to mask irl like her opposers would seriously listen?

“I hated her but that wasn’t the only thing I felt about her”

It’s as if I just watched a physical embodiment of a poem over the course of 3 hours.

  • Encanto

    Encanto

    ★★½

The efforts Disney is making for diversity is really impressive, and something incredibly important for today’s youth.

Message aside, we’ve got some sloppy bits here, folks. The animation is trying so hard to not look realistic that it takes you out of the story when trying to adjust to the mechanics of it all. The overall message is somewhat powerful, but because of the fumbling screenplay we’re left with yet another lackluster Disney flick that deserved much better than this.

  • Scream

    Scream

    ★★★★½

Hardcore fan here, that actually went in thinking the absolute worst. I am amazed at what was done within the franchise’s parameters.

I won’t say too much on the actual plot, I’m not a fan of spoilers. But I will say that this new cast delivers the jokes. Nothing falls flat like the characters from 3 and 4 do. A lot of twists and turns made me excited for each character to peer around that corner and toss that ghost-faced…

    Scream 4

    ★★★★

“Stab 5 has time travel and it’s by far the worst”

If this was a spoiler for 5CREAM I’m totally fine with it

  • Scream 3

    Scream 3

    ★★★

“I’m talking about how much fun it’s gonna be to rip your insides out, so open the fucking door Christine!”

Scream 3 doesn’t try to be anything but itself. Now while itself isn’t all that great, it’s still awash in early aughts film fare that is equally delectable and cheesy.

Where the franchise failed was that they broke too far away from the narrative. They relied on paving broken roads that led to nowhere by the credits.
    I will always…

  • Lamb

    Lamb

    ★★½

In one of the opening scenes, we find our couple sitting at their breakfast nook discussing the capabilities of time travel. Maria, seems transfixed with the past, whereas Ingvar is comfortable in the present.

Through 3 acts, we watch this small family grow to 3, and then joined by Ingvar’s brother, totaling the family to 4. Petur is unsure of this new familial development, but eventually grows to love the little lamb in his own way.

    It’s the 3rd act…

  • Memoria

    Memoria

    ★★★★★

It’s fitting that I’ve sat in silence for near 15 minutes before I began writing this.

Sometimes you just feel the power within a film. It breathes within the characters, the visuals, the sound. Memoria is just that film. It transports you into it’s own universe and once you leave, you wish to never live the same reality you knew before it.

  • The Matrix Revolutions

    The Matrix Revolutions

    ★★½

I got bored really quickly and that feeling never let up. Nothing was really happening to make me turn it off, but nothing really happened for it to stay on either.

I told a friend in middle school that my Dad went to this premiere to look cool. That was such a lie, I was a weird kid.

  • Nightmare Alley

    Nightmare Alley

    ★★★

Had I been told you get to see Bradley’s ween floating in a tub during Nightmare Alley, I would have seen this opening night. But alas, I had to find out tonight. I’m better for it, I think.

Outside of that this film tends to drag for much of it’s bloated run-time; however I become transfixed in the worlds of GDT so it was far from a misery that shorter films have caused.

Cate Blanchette was wonderful as always, Rooney…

  • The Matrix Reloaded

    The Matrix Reloaded

    ★★★

    Scattered thoughts:

Approximately 3 times we could have seen Neo’s weenie but didn’t

We literally had a digital pussy zoom in shot?

Dudes with the white dreads are fucking metal

I had the OST as a kid and never saw this, so I’m quite disappointed that Manson’s “this is the new shit” didn’t make an appearance!

  • The Matrix

    The Matrix

    ★★★½

There is absolutely ZERO reasons why they couldn’t have shown Neo’s weenie in this and I just can’t forgive them for it.
