Erik Bajzert’s review published on Letterboxd:
I find it hard to believe that this is still among the most enigmatic, restless and beautiful films ever made despite the obvious debt it owes to the history of the form. This was- somehow- my first time seeing Bergman's well established masterpiece. I look forward to repeat viewings.
Side bar: the print of the film that I saw had hard white English subtitles which made reading them nigh impossible during one of the film's most crucial moments. I was reminded of the classic film, Austin Powers in Goldmember, during the film's starkly lit climax. The guy sitting next to me agreed.
