Well... where to begin? This was probably my most anticipated film from this year, and it didn’t let me down! True to form, Ari Aster is the master of creating dread and frightening us with reality driven fears. Right from the emotionally charged opening, I was hooked. Soaked in a warm, pastel colour palette and gorgeous cinematography, Midsommar is openly deceiving. Evil lurks beneath the surface, and Aster has the best time playing with that. This film was totally my style and I’m so glad I travelled out of my way to see it on the big screen. It won’t be for everyone, but to me it’s pretty close to perfect.
