Ronan Doyle’s review published on Letterboxd:
The first follow-up to 7 Up immediately showcases one of the series' strongest facets: its ability to judge itself. The now-14 year old participants openly question this film's very purpose, wondering why anybody should be interested in their lives and why they should be interested in sharing their thoughts with the world. It's extremely interesting to consider how the act of filming influences the intended reality of the presentation, and it's an issue Apted openly addresses. Beyond this, of course, 7 Plus 7 has a great deal more to offer, its snapshot view of life at 14 achieving all its aims and proving this concept one of the most ingenious ever to emerge in documentary cinema.
