The Imposter

The Imposter ★★★★

The December Project: Film #65

Bart Layton has crafted with The Imposter one of the most consistently nail-biting thrillers of recent years, a rich tapestry of terrific tension that just happens to be a documentary. I can't much understand the protestations of those who have labelled its structure as deceptive and its intentions as ignoble: cinema, to me, should entertain or enlighten, and The Imposter, for all the questions we're left asking, does both non-stop for each and every one of its 99 minutes.
