Ronan Doyle’s review published on Letterboxd:
Now this is how claymation should be done. Soaked in sheer love, The Pirates! bears the beauty of Aardman's dedication to their craft, sparkling with visual inventiveness and stuffed with so many little gags I had to pause the movie about a dozen times so I didn't miss any. You could watch this movie on mute and laugh more than the rest of the year's comedies combined. That would be quite silly though, the script such a marvellous work of wit that it's as hard to keep up with as the sight gags. It's rare to have a film that's this much fun: the giddy glee of the voice cast suggests the team who made it enjoyed it as much as just about every viewer is assured to.
