The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday

Pretty awful. If you can’t pay the original cast, maybe don’t bother.

    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

    Silly.

  • Dead or Alive

    Dead or Alive

    ★★★★

Shock and disgust aside, this is a pretty simple story with a lot happening underneath. It’s also a really good movie, much more than I ever gave it credit for showing it to friends in college. The cultural stuff was 100% lost on me for a full decade of repeat viewings.

It’s a miracle Miike found enough people willing to buy into and add to his abhorrent visions enough to turn them into quality filmmaking.

Add this to the large pile of “bootlegs I used to own that I now have on fully restored, lovingly packaged blu.”

  • Die Hard 2

    Die Hard 2

    ★★★★

    Grossly under appreciated.

The logic is very shaky throughout, and they have to hang a whole bunch of lanterns on a whole bunch of familiar scenes. Still… I don’t care. It’s a really, really strong action sequel.

Fred Thompson is the standard bearer for over caffeinated and high blood pressured boiler room bosses with so many great lines delivered like an old pro. He was my senator for a while (ugh), and this is by far the work that makes…

Monty Python: The Meaning of Live

Refreshingly and even shockingly honest. Sketches like a warm blanket. Confirmation that Palin is the absolute greatest of Python, Gilliam is the absolute worst and Idle never got the credit he deserved. Love (almost all) of these old farts.

    Under Siege

Last time I watched this, it was a shitty dubbed copy on You Tube. Now it’s on blu. What a time to be alive.

Very much agree with the first review, though. This one is relentless.

  • The Grinch

    The Grinch

    ★★★½

I’m a fan of the stealing Christmas sequence. Still can’t quite wrap my mind around the fact that Scott Mosier directed this.

First of many for the next thirty days, I’m sure.

    The Starfighters

Stock footage, phone calls and an occasional group scene. Is this a movie?

    More Turkey Day goodness.

    Turkey Day. Finally.

If Apple is going to zap this from all the other streaming services for one month a year, the least they could do is include the Pilgrim episode, too. That’s our favorite. They’ve made it unavailable absolutely anywhere. Physical media 4EVA.
