Jamie’s review published on Letterboxd:
Henry Cavil as Sherlock Holmes is an unusual choice however I’ll take him over Benadryl Cucumberpatch any day.
As a huge fan of Stranger Things, Millie Bobby Brown has always impressed me and I’ve always wanted something to show her personality a lot more. I think she has found it with Enola. I think the fourth wall breaking trope can be very hit and miss and in my humble opinion MBB is a massive hit.
The story is fun for the most part however i do thinking the finishing school story line was completely unnecessary and the Lord Tewkesbury felt far too forced and took away from the original plot of finding Enola’s mother.
Apart from the handful of animations through the film, nothing separates this from the classic Sherlock Holmes stories we are familiar with but any former Greenwich Students will be glad to know that our main campus makes a cameo.
*FOR FANS OF*
Very much a family film, if you liked the last two Paddington films you’ll like the similar charm this film has (I am not at all saying this film close the perfection of Paddington but it’s nice little British adventure). Anyway I give this a ‘I’ll probably watch a second one/10”
