Tempted to give this an even lower score. Everything is very visually well crafted and nice to look at, but none of these stories are at all interesting, nor was the wraparound. Maybe these stories and characters needed more room to breathe? But I'm not even sure that would have helped. Much of the dialogue was also kind of grating, at least to me. A short Mormon film produced by BYU. I watched this because I had read that it was probably an influence on Napoleon Dynamite, which is one of my favorite movies. The influence is definitely there, imo.
I'm not Mormon, but based on comments and reviews online it seems a lot of Mormons grew up with this short. So it would make sense that Jared Hess probably saw this growing up.

A lot of dark humor in this, which I wasn't expecting. Some gnarly death scenes in this, too, as well as some cool camera angles. Overall I enjoyed this. Probably not for everybody, though. Also near the end there was some dramatic music that I swear I've heard in some old Spongebob episodes.
