Finally gotten around to Trier's sophomore effort but in many ways I feel like I've seen this movie before such is the prevalence of similar quality thoughtful cinema about outsiders. The best thing I can say about this one, the thing that will make it stand out from a crowded cinescape of slow films of people walking and being emotionally overwrought, is the complete debbie downer ending. Oh how I loved the depths that Trier allowed his character to descend to. More miserabilia please Joachim!
