It’ll probably take me like a week to actually process all of this, but my first reaction is that this is easily Nolan’s most profound movie, and maybe even his best. By no means was I expecting it to feel like a typical biopic, but he still found ways to impress me that I wouldn’t have even thought were possible. The intensity that this manages to maintain for the entire 3 hours is amazing. The way it jumps seamlessly between…

I've seen this more than enough times already, but with the studios making me wait even longer to see Part 2, I had to watch it again in the meantime. And I figured I might as well take advantage of this time to talk about why I love this movie so much, which I surprisingly haven't really done yet.

For starters, Dune is also my favorite book now that I've read it a couple times. Now that I know the…

The list of movies that make me as emotional as this one is extremely small. I continue to be amazed by how relatively simple Zimmer’s score is, yet it’s one of the most beautiful things my ears have ever heard. Combine that with probably the most breathtaking imagery in any sci-fi movie not named 2001 and, in my opinion, you’ve got one of the greatest cinematic achievements of all time.

I thought Captain Marvel was a perfectly fine movie, and I would’ve been interested in seeing a sequel that was actually about the things that were set up at the end of that movie. Instead, they skimmed over the interesting stuff and made this about the boring aftermath of it, including the worst villain in a franchise that’s already known for having several forgettable villains. The cat stuff was funny but that’s about it.

Really good ending to a really good trilogy. Gunn just knows exactly what to do with these characters. Honestly really loved what he did with Peter and Gamora, that’s a tough situation to write but he did a great job with it. And Rocket, damn. I don’t always love constant flashbacks but they added so much to this. I’m not one to cry easily but some of those scenes really pulled at the heartstrings. I really enjoyed almost everything leading…

I’ve learned that it’s rarely a good idea to have high expectations for a Netflix movie, so I was really just hoping this would be decent. I liked the premise, I thought it felt a bit like Black Mirror for a while. But it ended up not quite having enough to sustain the whole runtime, despite having a few decent twists. Hemsworth and Teller are both solid and they carry the movie about as far as they can, but there just wasn’t enough there to make it anything special.
