    There's a sequence where they go from casually chatting in a car, to getting run off the road and held at gunpoint, then back to casually chatting in a car — all in the span of like 90 seconds — and it's wonderful.

    This is thoroughly enjoyable and just fun. And all the action sequences are like a ballet of blood, especially the entire stretch in the police station towards the end.  Very well done. Nice to see Wan going all the way in. Between this, The Empty Man, Old, and Smiley Face Killers, it's been a great year for horror. Maybe we can eventually put "elevated horror" in the fucking trash where it belongs.
