loved the frequency of abandoned ships here: reminders of an at one time “practical” art and a good metaphor for the kind of portraiture the bodies here are subjected to. indescribably affecting how cronenberg wonders what value could be held not just of his own art but any act of human construction, and who has the authority to decide if it is debasement or creation.
