Holy moly what a trip! I don't know how I missed this one for so long but I'm glad I was finally hurled into it's mystical world of ancient pagan eroticism and zany low budget surrealism! A visual feast of psychadelic dream sequences, seductive worship scenes and chaotic nightmares worlds. Felt like the artsy exploitation of the 70s colliding into trashy 80s horror resulting in a ferocious B movie fever dream.
A mysterious ancient skull is discovered in the rural English countryside. Sneaky Lady Sylvia steals the skull and starts using it as a means to worship the deadly white worm that hungers for the bodies of virgins! Whoa! As she embarks on a sexy sacrificial onslaught Lord Hugh Grant begins to explore the ancient myths connected to the disappearances of local residents. Better be careful Hugh!
While it goes pretty dang nutty at times a lot of the scenes in between really drag things down. When it's on it's pure fire but it can be a bit of a slog waiting for those zany moments. All in all it's a nice little slice of bizarro 80s cinema that blasted my brainal pretty dang good!
