Happy to report that this is one of Disney’s better live action remakes. It still has many of the flaws that these reimaginings tend to suffer from (pointless new songs, overstuffed extended runtime, strange CGI - here in the form of Flounder), but there’s a lot to like, and it’s a pretty magical time which I enjoyed for the most part.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

I am so relieved by how good this was. Marvel has been so hit and miss since Endgame, and with Ant-Man 3 being their last film, I was seriously worried. However, Guardians fans are always safe in the hands of James Gunn, and he delivers an action-packed, hilarious, surprisingly dark and highly emotional conclusion to this beloved trilogy, and reminds us all why we fell in love with these characters.

Not just a movie, but an EXPERIENCE. Moonage Daydream totally redefines what a music documentary can be. This is so different from anything from the genre I’ve seen - rather than a linear journey with archival footage or interviews from an musician’s career, it’s a collection of moments, images, sounds, art and culture all connected to Bowie and who he was as an artist. We are taken directly into the odyssey that is Bowie’s mind in a unique and cinematic sensory experience. I’m not sure if it would have the exact same impact at home, but this was insane in IMAX. Completely blown away.

    Knives Out

    ★★★★½

Knives Out definitely lives up to the hype! Not only is it super fun, entertaining, and has an out of this world cast, but it’s a fresh take on the murder mystery genre too.

Rian Johnson has done something pretty special here. He’s taken the murder mystery genre, which has been done to death and can sometimes get a little predictable, and infused it with new DNA. I haven’t seen a film of the genre like this one. Johnson cleverly…
