Now this is how you do a sequel. This was honestly so so good and actually much better than I expected it to be. The first film was one of the most unique thrillers I’ve ever seen, and part two manages to capture its essence while giving us something very fresh.
It has one of the best opening scenes I’ve seen in a film for a long time, instantly putting the audience on edge and the state they will be in for the rest of its running time. The use of tension and build up of suspense is superb, there were just so many moments where I had to catch my breathe. The thrilling use of sound is really what makes it so effective.
In this sequel we get to see more of the outside world and meet other survivors which I found really interesting. Cillian Murphy is fantastic as he essentially fills Krasinski’s leading man shoes, he’s just such a spectacular actor. Emily Blunt is excellent too. The focus is shifted a lot more to the kids in this film so they get a lot more to do, and both Millicent Simmons and Noah Jupe are incredibly impressive young actors.
There is definitely potential for a Quiet Place Part III, and I say bring it on if it’s anything like the first two.
