A tremendous rewatch, especially knowing where it’s headed and the amount of sly humour embedded within its polished surface. What a perfect ending, too: perhaps a fate worse than death from Lydia Tár’s perspective, but also a return to the source - a pure and necessary engagement with music in a world where her eloquence and status are rendered meaningless. As Bernstein says on Lydia/Linda’s warbling videotape, music’s prime importance is how it makes one feel, and those Monster Hunter cosplayers are feeling it. 4.5 stárs.
