Interview with a Vampire is a 1994 gothic horror film starring the talents of Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Kirsten Dunst, Christian Slater and Antonio Banderas. Straight off the success of The Crying Game, Neil Jordan directs Anne Rice's screenplay providing an atmospheric and entertaining feature that runs red with floods of blood throughout.

I've never been big on vampire films but seeing its stellar cast tempted me. Whilst I enjoyed the Vampire lore that was scattered throughout I was mostly surprised by how sexualised this was. I'm not just talking about nudity and moments of blood sucking pleasure but the chemistry was so good between Cruise and Pitt you could cut the sexual tension with a knife!

I was mostly engaged with the plot but did find the film was evaluated whenever Pitt shares the screen with Cruise or Banderas as opposed to being on his own. Christian Slater was underused but otherwise there was solid performances from all involved. Brad Pitt in particular had a strong screen presence and portrayed his characters confliction very well whilst Cruise displayed fine range.

Interview with the Vampire smoothly transitions through its three acts with ease and a balanced pace but overall I was left feeling underwhelmed by the overall plot.
