Ben’s review published on Letterboxd:
John Wick returns and he’s as stylish as ever. The world building continues and we really see how far this league of assassins stretches. Parabellum has everything you’d want from these movies - inventive kills (I mean he’s killing people with horses now!), wry humor and big action set pieces. Having these staples doesn’t mean it always hit the mark though. There was some questionable choreography at the beginning and Reeve’s delivery is still spotty. There’s a tedious middle section that takes place in the desert as well as some fights that overstayed their welcome. You still have a lot of pros throughout however. The Casablanca fight scene was perfect in its fast pace and choreography. The visuals were never dull and the neon green soaked finale was fun. I would’ve preferred more closure for the ending but it looks like they will continue this franchise. Hopefully they don’t run it into the ground!
