What a masterpiece, an ageless romance that years to come will be loved and praised. Spectacular film, performances are top notch, for a directorial debut I’m very impressed since it’s handled so well, presenting itself like a classic. Visually stunning, and the story alone... leaves me speechless. Heartwarming and heartbreaking, subtle with it’s development towards the relationship, yet the connection is always present. Making this film so worthy of the acclaim it’s getting, to the point that it’s criterion just got announced. I love that if we lived in a better world, this movie wouldn’t work, social norms of the past is what takes this from having a happy ending.
