Bethany’s review published on Letterboxd:
This movie is my fucking religion.
For real though: why am I just watching this for the first time now? This film is a work of art, a masterpiece even. Jake Gyllenhaal was the perfect choice and only actor who could have played Donnie Darko. I love almost everything about this movie. I love how dark and intricate the movie feels. I love the dry humor and how it's used in moments to cut the tension when it's needed. I love the INCREDIBLE cast. Jake Gyllenhaal and Jena Malone (who I now have the biggest crush on) are both so good but bitch... everybody in this movie is good. Even the parents. I love the music so much. I also really love how this movie sometimes feels like a horror movie, but it never really turns in that direction which is good because a horror spin would have ruined it. This movie is great and I feel I could watch it so many times and still enjoy it.
Jake Gyllenhaal please call me :-)
