It's weird that it took over an hour to see our main character in a boxing match in a boxing movie. We had two matches before that: one with a prison bitch fighting for respect, and another with a death row inmate and said previously mentioned bitch. Just seemed odd.
The finale kind of comes out of nowhere and wasn't the match that I thought it would be, but other than that I really enjoyed this movie. It wasn't as sleazy as I thought it would be, which was a welcome surprise: no corrupt warden or guards, no prison rapes (hinted at, but not shown), and it wasn't a marathon of scenes where assholes are keeping the better people down.
Well-developed characters, good execution, and a good pace. Looking forward to the sequels.
