Instantly my 2nd favorite Sergio Martino film after The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh. Edwige Fenech is at her best here, the use of colors is amazing--I'm talking Blood and Black Lace level of mastery, and I love that hypnotic score too. All the Colors of the Dark is packed with memorable, haunting sequences making it an essential giallo experience.

The Red Queen Kills Seven Times 1972
The mysterious legend explained in the opening sequence gives this giallo a distinct Gothic vibe as well as more depth than many other gialli. The cinematography, cast, score, and use of colors are all phenomenal here. Although the twists at the end probably require a bit more suspension of disbelief than usual, The Red Queen Kills Seven Times remains one of the most stylish, ethereal, and thrilling films of the genre.

Congo 1995
Congo has my vote for the greatest bad film of all time. Things that make it awesome include but are certainly not limited to: an outrageously campy scene where Delroy Lindo calmly requests then promptly and inexplicably shouts "STOP EATING MY SESAME CAKE", murderous grey gorillas, silly Bruce Campbell, avaricious Joe Don Baker, charismatic Joe Pantoliano, The Lost City of Zinj (aka King Solomon's Mines with a more exotic name), Amy the talking gorilla, and of course Tim Curry's preposterous character, Herkermer Homolka, who is more obsessed with diamonds than anyone ever.

Imitation of Life 1959
Iβm digging Sirk lately for sure. Magnificent Obsession was pretty sweet, but Imitation of Life feels much more ambitious and complete. The film as expected looks great in lavish Technicolor, and its multilayered story is very engaging. The acting was phenomenal with Lana Turner giving her best performance and of course Juanita Moore is the real star of the film.
