Scott McRae’s review published on Letterboxd:
“You coulda been a piano player with those hands.”
Cassavetes reckless, manic energy is sweaty and unshaven. This is a great work of fraternal strain, so much love, Falk arrives with his friend in a downward spiral, his paranoia and insanity working him into a fever, sick with desperation and mortal despair. A new favorite, I guess A New Leaf is next.
When you fear for your life, what do you do? If you have any good sense, you call up your best buddy, chain-smoke, drink until your plastered, munch on crackers, visit your mom’s grave, argue, joke, maybe catch a flick.
