It was more in the realm of Bela Tarr/'slow cinema' than I was expecting, but A Ghost Story is unlike anything else you'll see all year and, importantly, it's also brilliant.
Yes, it doesn't just get brownie points for being different - A Ghost Story is eerie, sad and weighty, even when it feels like you're just watching someone inhale a pie.
It's a big movie, a small movie and - although it sounds like a cheap gag - one that'll haunt you long after the credits stop rolling.
