Wow, this was well worth the wait. I really loved everything about this one. At no point at all during the runtime did I feel bored, nor feel the need to check the time.
Here Marvel Studios have done a great job at introducing an entirely new story and characters largely free of any previous entries - something we haven't seen since 2019's Captain Marvel and with the exception of Eternals next month, not something we'll be seeing anytime on the big screen from Marvel Studios. Sure, there are a few references and cameos (and of course, one supporting character) from previous films, but it never relies on your prior knowledge of the films to make it work.
Simu Liu is great as the lead, and I look forward to seeing him in the MCU for many years to come. Awkwafina as well was incredibly well cast in the supporting role, and really anyone who has seen some of recent outings should not be surprised by her acting chops. And of course having both Michelle Yeoh and Tony Leung in here is just the icing on the cake. In particular, Tony Leung made such a compelling antagonist (who I hesitate to call a villain) and was just fascinating to watch.
After the ho-hum energy of Black Widow, I'm glad we've had a really strong entry in Phase IV. Bring on the rest of 2021!
