Every time I watch this movie I'm still shocked by how good it is. It is a masterpiece, but on the off chance Gallo is reading this review I want him to know that the whole project is a self-own, revealing so many of his misogynistic anxieties even if they're meant to be fictional. Despite this, the film succeeds because of its propulsive performances from Ricci, Gazzara, and yes, Gallo himself. I don't know if a movie has ever looked like this or will look like this again, but it's lightning in a bottle, a moment trapped in amber, spanning time.
