Brennan’s review published on Letterboxd:
"Annette" is one of the most bonkers films I've had the privilege of watching. While the plot seems far from insane, the way it is brought to the screen is both fantastic and insane. A full-fledged musical, with a story and original songs created by the brilliant Mael brothers that are as crazy as they are, directed by Leos Carax, whose unique style brings a unique look to the film, and brilliantly acted by Adam Driver, who runs circles around everything this film has to offer and will ultimately and hopefully not be forgotten come Awards Season, Marion Cotillard, whose singing prowess helps her character chine, and Simon Hedberg, who shows he is much more than just a sitcom actor.
Love it for everything it has to offer; hate it for everything it has to offer; or, for the few, enjoy it slightly for certain aspects. No matter what rating you give the film, you will have to admit that "Annette" is a once-in-a-lifetime film.
